Te Whanau Kotahi
Te Whanau Kotahi is a Charitable Trust providing the Child Development Service on behalf of the Ministry of Health for the Tauranga/Western Bay of Plenty area. The Trust is governed by a Board of Trustees featuring parents, experts and community representatives.
Tauranga Riding for the Disabled provides equestrian therapy programmes and equine interaction programmes for people from the Tauranga and Western Bay of Plenty regions who are challenged by disability or who are at-risk. The programmes are designed to develop and nurture confidence, independence, and well-being and provide life skills. The goal is to assist clients achieve their goals and enable them to participate more fully as members of their community.
Te Whanau Kotahi offers services for children and young people who:
- Have physical, sensory or intellectual disabilities or a combination of these that is likely to continue for minimum of 6 months.
- Are at risk of developing such a disability or have developmental delay.
- Have Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
- Require whanau, family, caregiver and advocate associated support.
